Pleasing Him

I want to please Heavenly Father.

When Spencer W. Kimball was young he made up his mind that “the thing I wanted to do was to please my Heavenly Father.” I want to do that too. I’ve committed to it several times… I know I don’t always please Him, but I think I’m getting better at it. My HWN recently has been in following an invitation from President Nelson that helps me with this.

Ask your Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, how He feels about you and your mission here on earth. If you ask with real intent, over time the Spirit will whisper the life-changing truth to you. Record those impressions and review them often, and follow through with exactness.

I promise you that when you begin to catch even a glimpse of how your Heavenly Father sees you and what He is counting on you to do for Him, your life will never be the same! (Becoming True Millennials)

I feel like Heavenly Father is helping me gain a vision of who I can be. The more I seek it, the clearer it becomes. And the clearer it becomes, the stronger my commitment to reaching it is… This helps me want to please Him :)

I’m glad that when I try to please Heavenly Father, He strengthens my desire to do so even more.

p.s. I’ve enjoyed having family so close the past couple weeks :) Especially with my mom in town this weekend.

  1. Hey Zach, I esp. like these lines in your piece, “I feel like Heavenly Father is helping me gain a vision of who I can be. The more I seek it, the clearer it becomes. And the clearer it becomes, the stronger my commitment to reaching it is… This helps me want to please Him :)”

I know it’s important to stay away from sin and read His word but this reminds me how living every day enjoying His presence, no matter the circumstances and praising Him is a key importance as well.

I live in Houston where a major hurricane is about to hit tomorrow. I am asking God to intervene for the storm. But no matter what happens, I can look at it as an opportunity to spend more time with Him while I am waiting for it to pass. You know? Thanks for these encouraging words and keep me in your prayers. ?

  2. I enjoyed your post! ? No one is perfect in the world, but He is always beside us and He loves us. Since He has and is doing for us, it feels really good when we plan and do something for Him in return, even if it means praying and talking to Him. Thank you for sharing with us.
