These last couple weeks, I’ve been worried about where I’ll be living… and it’s been hard at times to concentrate on other things. A discussion at the NOJOS conference reminded me of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. This is a pyramid portraying the largest, most fundamental needs at the bottom and all others building on top of that. Individuals cannot effectively worry about or pursue higher level needs when the lower ones are not met.

I realized today how much my worrying about the basic need of shelter has effected me over the last weeks. And I heard HWN today through this lesson that helps me empathize, even if only in a small way, with people who have no home or shelter!
