Buried deep under water

A couple days ago I got sick.

With a headache, dizziness, muscle aches, and exhaustion. It was miserable. Especially during the holidays.

My brothers and dad gave me a priesthood blessing Saturday night, and although I slept horribly Saturday night (waking up what seemed like every 10 to 15 minutes) I felt back to 100% by Sunday afternoon :) The contrast made my 100% seem like 200% though! I guess it helped me appreciate my health more.

God doesn’t leave us alone in our trials.

This was a faster recovery than most in my life — compared to recoveries from physical, emotional, social, or spiritual distress — and it was a good reminder that Heavenly Father cares :)

I also recently read of Heavenly Father delivering the Jaredites from their distress:

“And it came to pass that when they were buried in the deep [and] encompassed about by many waters they did cry unto the Lord, and he did bring them forth again upon the top of the waters. (Ether 6:7)

When I cry to Him he can deliver me from my deep waters too.

God also helps us through other people.

A last thought in this regard… I recently watched The Greatest Showman and P. T. Barnum who was quoted as saying:

“The noblest art is that of making others happy.”

Sometimes Heavenly Father uses others to help me recover, and sometimes he allows me to be the means to lift others out of their deep waters. I’m grateful for both.

My recent HWN has been seeing heavenly rescuing in my life and others’.

p.s. Being together as a whole family for the first time again was wonderful over the holidays :) Welcome back Elder Jeremy Duvall! We also added 3 new people since the last time :)

It was difficult coming back from California to the cold Utah! Check out all my photos here.

  1. Your post was timely for me; I needed to remember that “the Lord…did bring [the Jaredites] forth again upon the top of the waters.” (Ether 6:7) and that He will do the same for me.

    Thanks as usual. :)
