Good for nothing
Sometimes in life we feel “good for nothing…”
Fortunately, Christ cares about things that are good for nothing! At one point in the allegory of the olive trees the Lord of the vineyard commented that…
“…these which have once brought forth good fruit have also become corrupted; and now all the trees of my vineyard are good for nothing save it be to be hewn down and cast into the fire.” (Jacob 5:42)
However, the Lord and His servant (representing Christ) decided to “spare it a little longer” (Jacob 5:50) and to…
“…labor diligently with our might in the vineyard, that we may prepare the way, that I may bring forth again the natural fruit, which natural fruit is good and the most precious above all other fruit.”
Because of Christ we are good for something.
He sees that we can bring forth good fruit… Even when it’s our own poor choices that made poor fruit. When we allow it, Christ will work in our lives…
“…even until the bad had been cast away out of the vineyard… that the trees had become again the natural fruit.. .and the Lord of the vineyard had preserved unto himself the natural fruit, which was most precious unto him from the beginning.” (Jacob 5:74)
So when we feel good for nothing, and even if our fruits have been good for nothing, remember that Christ knows we are not. We’re precious to Him no matter what state we’re in.
p.s. Since my last post, I enjoyed general conference and having my parents in town :)
