In my profession, most things are held confidential, but some things have a mandatory reporting requirement (meaning I have to call the police). This is explained to all clients who come into our office. In spite of this, some people choose to disclose reportable information because they want to repent and make amends where possible. I was impressed by such a situation today. One client chose the hard path, knowing the potential consequences, in a desire to do what was right!
