I’ve been here all the time

Another post about Narnia… I’ll unapologetically share :)

In the Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Lucy is tasked with helping the Duffers make themselves visible again. She sneaks into the magician’s home, and reads A Spell to make hidden things visible. Not only does she help the Duffers, but she made Aslan visible as well! Here was there ensuing conversation…

“Oh, Aslan,” said she, “it was kind of you to come.”

I have been here all the time,” said he, “but you have just made me visible.”

“Aslan!” said Lucy almost a little reproachfully. “Don’t make fun of me. As if anything I could do would make you visible!”

“It did,” said Aslan. “Do you think I wouldn’t obey my own rules?”

I love C.S. Lewis’ use of these characters to represent truth about Christ (my HWN today). This passage reminds me of Revelations 3:20:

“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”

Christ is always standing at the door of our heart — whether or not we know he’s there, let alone see him — and ready and willing to come in when we open the door :)

p.s. My cousins Kyler and Shawn sang the national anthem before the Orem Varsity Basketball game tonight :)
