Preparing for war

This evening, I pondered some verses from the war chapters of the Book of Mormon, specifically in regards to how the righteous prepared for war. They were taught…

“…never to give an offense, yea, and never to raise the sword… except it were to preserve their lives.  And this was their faith, that by so doing God would … warn them to flee, or to prepare for war, according to their danger; and… by so doing, the Lord would deliver them.”  (Alma 48:14-16)

Similarly, I don’t need to raise my figurative sword, except in defense. In other words, I don’t need to search out war or temptation to withstand — enough of that will come already. My duty is to be ready when it does come!

I heard HWN today through personal revelation during scripture study :)
