Worthy as we truly are

This morning while reviewing my notes from General Conference, this quote impressed me (my HWN today).

As we truly are, worthy of rescue

“My dear brothers and sisters, my dear friends, I testify that God sees us as we truly are — and He sees us as worthy of rescue!” (President Uchtdorf)

I appreciate the conjunction “and” rather than “but.” This implies that God doesn’t overlook our imperfections to allow his love to reach us. He doesn’t love us in spite of anything. Rather, He loves us eternally for who we areAnd He sees us as “worthy of rescue” — worthy to be exalted to more than we are. As hard as we try, I don’t think these are things we can ever lose :)
