Come what may and love it

Over the past several weeks, I’ve learned a lot about trust, faith, and hope. And my HWN this week was experiencing it in practice. I had a disappointment, and felt sad. For the first time I can remember though, I felt faith and hope as well. It was surprising and inspirational for me — to feel hope at the same time as sadness — and I recognize that as a gift from Heavenly Father :)

I thought of a couple quotes from Elder Wirthlin’s talk Come What May, and Love it:

“If we approach adversities wisely, our hardest times can be times of greatest growth, which in turn can lead toward times of greatest happiness.”

And this one has always been powerful for me:

“The Lord compensates the faithful for every loss. That which is taken away from those who love the Lord will be added unto them in His own way. While it may not come at the time we desire, the faithful will know that every tear today will eventually be returned a hundredfold with tears of rejoicing and gratitude.”

p.s. I enjoyed Elder Nelson’s worldwide devotional for the YSA tonight. It was cool to see a tweet from my HWN profile make it on to the #ldsdevo twitter feed :) They quoted me as “Heaven.”
