I feel like I’ve been chastened by life recently, so I did a study on “chastening” in scripture. I read quite a few verses about being chastened after sin… kind of depressing. Does that mean I’m a sinner?
One of the last things I read was Hebrews 12. And I felt hope :) Paul said:
“…despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?” (Hebrews 12:5-7)
Though I know my sin probably justifies chastening enough, Paul’s words are reassuring (my HWN recently). Yes, I am a sinner, but I know Heavenly Father loves me… and chastening is in fact evidence of that :)
Some highlights of the last couple weeks… Josh treated me to all-you-can-eat sushi when he was in town several days ago! And we got breakfast with Emily at Kneader’s the next day :)
I flew south for the Winter (at least one weekend of it) and visited Matt, Chandler, and Elliott… check out all the pics here.
Today, I got lunch with Danny, Sarah, and Emily, and Em helped me picked out some new winter shoes :)
