In honor of Harry Potter’s birthday, here’s a quote I listened to (audio-book) today:
“If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.” (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire)
Although this quote was from Barty Crouch Jr. who, while mascarading as Mad-Eye Moody, was expressing disdain for his father, I think it’s a good principle. In fact, I think you could look at how someone treats others in general — inferior, equal, or superior — to understand their character. And how we treat others is a reflection of how we feel about and treat ourselves. Kindness towards self and others is definitely a good quality to work on :)
I heard HWN today through this reflection of truth in popular media :)
p.s. Allison threw an amazing birthday party for Harry this evening :)
Also, Rachel drew an uncanny likeness of Dudley :)
“Dudley had done the thing he was threatening to do since age three: He had become wider than he was tall.”
